A Chorus of Disapproval
By Alan Ayckbourn
Matinée 22 July at 2.30pm
Guy is a shy and lonely man, recently widowed, who joins his local operatic society, currently rehearsing John Gay’s The Beggar’s Opera. His inability to refuse any request, whether it be for illicit sex or confidential business information, or to take on increasingly important roles in the show, leads him on hilarious and painful journeys – none of which he really intends or wishes to travel.
Alan Ayckbourn’s ‘psychologically acute and heartbreakingly
funny’ play holds the mirror up to every theatrical group, every
drinks party and every socially embarrassing situation you’re
likely to encounter – and probably many that you already have.
