Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime
By Constance Cox
Matinée 10 December at 2.30pm
With his wedding imminent, the blameless Lord Arthur’s life of good fortune is thrown into disarray when he has his fortune told and finds himself obliged to commit a murder before the celebratory nuptials can take place. What follows are his often hilarious and ridiculous attempts to kill off members of his own large and wealthy family, for the sake of his beloved Sybil and their marriage.
Adapted by Constance Cox, this farcical tale of love, honour,
duty and murder captures the essence of Wilde’s satirical
cynicism to produce an unusually black comedy of manners.
